Commercial Moving FAQs to make your office move easy and stress free
When is the best time to move my company or business?
When considering a move, plan around your business hours to save money, perhaps moving after hours or during the weekend to avoid conflicts with daily business operations. UMC Moving is flexible to work around your hours and situation.
How do you determine the moving cost?
The moving cost is determined by the size of the move, the amount of movers and trucks required, the amount of hours, distance, and other services needed, such as packing supplies, labor, and storage. To prepare an accurate cost proposal, we survey the original site to determine the work requirements needed and visit the new site for accurate floor and furniture reuse plans. After this information is compiled, an accurate proposal and cost estimate is prepared.
How do I plan my move?
More planning time leads to the smoothest moving results. A minimum of two-three weeks is manageable for a move of less than 5,000 square feet.
Do I need to be there during the move phases?
A member of your management team must be on-site for any last minute decisions and approval of the final work.
Are your movers insured?
UMC Moving is a fully licensed and insured moving company. We will provide the necessary documents upon request.
Do you provide packing and unpacking services?
We provide partial and full packing to meet your needs and budget. We also will dispose of boxes, as needed.
Do you provide storage facilities?
Short and long-term storage are provided for any size moves. Our storage facilities are safe and secure. The facilities are water, fireproof, climate controlled, and have an alarm system.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, money orders, company checks, and major credit cards.

"Long Island's Cablevision needed to switch employees at two of its call centers. The employees in Woodbury Long Island were moving to the call center in Melville Long Island and those in Melville needed to move to Woodbury. UMC had to simultaneously move 700 people, furniture, technology, and a rolling file system - the files needed to be tagged and moved as well. Time was critical. During the move, both locations would be offline and all calls diverted to other locations. Thirty-five movers, four tractor trailers, and five moving vans completed the move in one day. UMC had people loading at both locations and the two teams honked their horns as they passed each other going in opposite directions on the Long Island Expressway."
